The full show of the entertaining first-ever BGA Caddies League 2022, hosted by the Bengal Golf Association was stolen by SK Rafick, a caddie-turned-golfer. Both SK Sajan and SK Rafick scored one-over-par 75 today at the RCTC, but Rafick held his breath until the winning putt at the theatrical confrontation between the caddies. Sukanta Mondal shot 3 over 77 and became the third runner-up.
SK Rafick is a top mid-amateur golfer on the Indian Golf Union’s East India Amateur Golf Feeder Tour, and he frequently ranks among the best amateur golfers in eastern India. Rafick began caddying at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club when he was quite young. He now trains at the Eco Park Golf Arena in Kolkata.
“It was a fantastic success and a terrific occasion for me, especially at this time,” said Rafick, 36.
Col RK Tomar from FWEPTA, Mr. Rohan Ghosh, Golf Captain of the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Captain Sanjiv Dhir, Vice President of the Tollygunge Club, Mr. Ranjit Singh, Mr. Anil Bhargava, Mr. Dipak Burma, Mr. Pratik Lakhotia from the Bengal Golf Association gave away the prizes.
The Bengal Golf Association’s Caddies League 2022, presented by Rawmet Resources Pvt Ltd, held on June 20, 2022, at the RCTC in Kolkata. The tournament field consisted of over 80 caddie-golfers across West Bengal. Participants included prospective caddies as well as an amateur golfer who has previously worked as a caddie. It is an 18-hole strokeplay event.
Golf is a sport in India that requires a lot of funding. The event’s major goal was to promote golf among caddies so that they may take the sport seriously, as well as to help them in terms of sponsorship at the national and international levels. The total prize pool for the competition was Rs. 30,000. Some of the competitors were regulars on the all-India amateur golf circuit, while others were newcomers who require assistance to advance in their sport. The Association exists only to help the caddy fraternity throughout the state.
